The scary thing here is that everything in the title happened in one week. I'll get to that in a minute.
Having one of those days today....didn't start to get "the good sleep" until right before the alarm went off, therefore I woke up a cranky bitch. Got to work late - not like that is ever a surprise anymore. About two hours into my work day, I turned to get something off the side of my desk and heard an angry "SNAP!!". Which turned out to be the underwire breaking in my bra. FABulous. We all know that I couldn't set the girls loose. The last thing I wanted to do on my lunch hour was go trying on bras. So I crossed my fingers and hoped that there wouldn't be any poke-age before the end of the day. At least I lucked out on that front. But my favorite bra is now in the garbage.
Okay, back to my week. The middle of the week holiday was very taxing on my brain. While it was nice to get out a little early on Tuesday and not have to work on Wednesday, I had a very hard time convincing my body that Thursday was not Sunday. In any case, I took advantage of our early out on Tuesday and did some shopping. Bad idea. Apparently, I was unaware that it was $100 day. That means that at both places I went, my subtotals were in that $100 range. The good thing was that between coupons and sales, I ended up spending $87 and $77 respectively. $87 at Bed Bath and Beyond (or bloodbath and beyond as my friend Joe calls it)was not bad, especially considering this particular BB&B had a Harmons inside the store. That's double damage in my book, though I guess $87 is bad when you realize that I only went in there for one $25 item. The really bad thing was that the $77 was at Bath and Body Works. I went in there for a buy two get two free sale....but there more sales to be had. Here is the proof:
$5 classic collection, $3 shampoo and conditioner...I think the only thing I paid full price for was my lip gloss (my lip gloss is cool, my lip gloss is poppin'...sorry, broke into song there for a second!).
We had a very low-key 4th. Brian was off and we were invited to his brother's, though we didn't decide to go until the last minute. It was still a good time, though. Its the first time I've seen the kids since Christmas, I think, which is funny when you realize that we only live about 20 minutes away. The rain kept us all inside for the most part, but in between rain showers, most of the kids were in the pool. My brother-in-law and his friends set off fireworks for about an hour. I don't think we made it home until almost 11:30, which is when I'm usually in bed.
Friday, I scooted out of work early so that I could get an earlier start to head to NJ. I was headed to Carol's for a sleep over. Billy grilled dinner and then a couple of B&C's friends came over, so we all moved out to the little patio attached to Carol's condo. We sat out there for hours, drinking and listening to music on my laptop and Billy's phone. I was introduced to this burping drinking game thing...if someone burps, you have to put your thumb on your head. The last person to do this has to drink. I never heard of it before, but the more you drink, the funnier it gets. There's nothing quite like seeing five adults sitting on the porch looking like they have an antler on their heads. We sat outside for about 5 hours....I crashed in Colin's room and once I fell asleep, I was out like a light for another 5 hours.
Saturday morning came and I drove Carol to the doctor to get her stitches out before heading to see Claire the hair guru for a cut and foil appointment. I don't think the cut is quite the same as I'm used to - the blunt angle seems to be missing from back to front, but I really didn't notice it until I had already left the shop. Part of that was because I was hung over. But the main reason was because I was too busy checking out my new stripes...
(You'll have to excuse the fact that I look like butt in this picture. I'm all showered with no makeup on, plus I have an angry skin patch right in the middle of my face....VERY attractive for photos!)
From Claire's, I went to Jen's house. She had some things that she had ordered for me, but I also wanted to stop by so that I could meet Gina, someone I have been chatting with through NJ Scrappers. Its kind of funny because Gina and I led opposite lives...she spent her life on Long Island, then moved to New Jersey last year. She and Jen met at the animal shelter when they each adopted a cat, and now Gina and Fred are thinking of moving to West Milford, so they were coming to Jen's to get a guided tour of the area. I didn't get to stay and hang out with all of them for too long, because I had to get home to the pooch, but G&F seemed very cool. I'm hoping to get to crop with Gina soon
Yesterday was spent on Cablevision's website and on the phone with them a couple of different times trying to figure out why we could get sound but no picture on the new TV. It was working fine for a couple of weeks, then all of a sudden on Friday, Brian had no picture. Cablevision wasn't so helpful, but Brian was able to solve the problem by moving the cable box...go figure!
