I'm not standing anymore
My time in Last Scrapper Standing was up late Thursday night when the results of Round 3 went up. I can't lie and say I wasn't disappointed, but quite honestly, I am still surprised that I had made it that far. So muchas gracias to the Effers for keeping me in it this long.
Now its time to focus on making some new class samples....I've got the two new Basic Grey lines burning a hole in my pocket, so to speak, and I need to get some new classes out there.
Speaking of classes, last Thursday was the second night of the Tim Holtz-based series that Dawn and I are teaching at YHP and it was color wash night. A messy night was had by all. But hopefully everyone had fun "channeling their inner Pollock". Next week is the last class, and it will be alcohol ink night. So I'm off to play to see if I can come up with some surprises for class! =)

Last Scrapper Standing - Round 3
Here is my entry. My good camera crapped out of battery before I could upload the pics I took of this (I suck at scanning and stitching and did not want to begin to play with that at 30 minutes before deadline). Thank God we have a shitty point and shoot digital or I would have been screwed. So here are the pics. I'm off to have some dinner and get my stuff together for class tomorrow night.

I made it
to Round 3 in Last Scrapper Standing. I'm so excited. It really made my day on Friday when I found out -- I just couldn't stop smiling. I still can't believe it, because I wasn't that thrilled with my entry. Lots of other people liked my layout, and more often than not, I'm my own harshest critic. But I must have done something right because I've made it this far. What started as approximately 500 entrants was cut to just under 200 after Round 1, and is now down to about 90. My progress even rated me a shout-out in YHP's weekly email...NICE!
Speaking of YHP, I alluded in my last post to the 3 class series that Dawn and I were teaching together based on Tim Holtz's products and techniques. After the three classes (three Thursday nights), our students will leave with a tag book that contains the "recipes" to replicate the different techniques that they are being taught. One side of the tag will have the sample that they have created in class, and the recipe for that sample gets attached to the back of that tag. Thursday's class was all about distress inks, including distress embossing powders. Even though Dawn and I spent a fair share of hours preparing for this, hashing out techniques, figuring out what products would get used, etc., we were both a knot of nerves come Thursday night when we were getting ready to start with our 19 student class. But it worked out really well. The class was split into two groups of tables, so D worked one half of the room and I worked the other. And somehow we managed to finish on time. This week is the color wash class, and next week, we finish the series with alcohol inks. I'm sure when Dawn comes back from Ranger U next month, there will be more cool inking and embossing techniques to add to the book. I kinda want a book for myself....some of the DI things we did this week, I had never done before, so I spent a good chunk of the night playing Vanna White to Dawn's Pat Sajak. For color wash night, our roles will be reversed, since colorwashes have become my new favorite product over the past couple of months. Alcohol ink night is anyone's guess.
I've got to get working on this week's LSS entry as well as some new classes...I'm actually going to do some layout classes....imagine that!! Forcing myself outside the box once again. I'll post again on Wednesday with my entry. Thanks for stopping by!

Last Scrapper Standing - Round 2
Here is my entry for this week. Some technical difficulties kept me from posting it to 2peas and the dares' blog before the midnight deadline last night, so I don't know if I'm in or I'm out. We'll find out tomorrow.
There was way too much thinking and research involved in my preparation for this dare. I was on the computer 3 nights in a row trying to bring my photo printing ideas to fruition. Then in a crazy haze on Tuesday night, I realized that the white space left by one of the various picture set-ups I tried reminded me of an Absolut ad....a negative space in the center of the page that was similar to the shape of the bottle. So we almost ended up with a 12 picture photo collage in the shape of an Absolut bottle. That may still come to fruition some day, but I needed smaller pictures and the technical difficulties began when I ran out of ink the printer. I ended up meshing together a couple of my ideas and this layout is the result. And I wrote on my pictures again - what the crap? Round 1 may have created a monster in that regard.
I want to blog about the super-cool class series that Dawn and I started teaching tonight at the store...Dawn really taught most of tonight's class and I was wingman, but that topic deserves more time than I can give it tonight because I need sleep. But I'll be here tomorrow with LSS results and to talk about class.

Last Scrapper Standing update
The results are up and I made it to Round 2!! Yay!!! And its so cool to me that some fellow peas that I have in my BOS who are competing have also moved forward. If anyone is pea-speak challenged, leave me feedback and I'll translate =)
You can peep the results list and the Round 2 challenge here. 13 pictures?!? That set off a flutter of panic in the heart of this 8.5 x 11 scrapper....I've already got ideas and possibilities running through my head....index prints? Wallet size? Damn it that I have to have a 9 to 5 job (well today 8 to 4) and that I can't go home and start running with some of these! Grrr!
Good luck to everyone in Round 2. I'll post my entry to the blog next Wednesday.

Great class night
Tonight was the biggest class of my short teaching career....NINE people. And my first repeat student. Class wasn't quite prepped all the way when I got there, but there was plenty of time to get it done before class started (thanks Terry!). Everyone was happy with their finished product, we had no major snafus, and we had some good laughs. Just a fun bunch all the way around.
Last Scrapper Standing is going on right now, courtesy of the Dare Girls....deadline was last night at midnight (hence the reason that my prep work for class tonight wasn't finished). Nothing like waiting until the last minute, right?? I was so close to the deadline that my paper was still wet (the inking and spritzing I did around the edges) when I put the page on the scanner. The challenge was to put your journaling on top of your picture, and it was supposed to be a significant amount of journaling. With the help of my trusty Souffle pens, I think I got it covered, don't you?
I'm exhausted and tomorrow is early day at work. I may be having scrapping friends over tomorrow night, so I'm kind of excited. Gotta work on some class stuff, but it'll be nice to work with no pressure (even if the pressure is self-inflicted).
