is it bad...

...that this is the way I want to remember Meredith Grey? Looking like Violet Beauregard after she chews Willy Wonka's gum? Like one of the marshmellows from Boo Berry cereal? I had no delusions that she would die and stay dead (gasp! her name is in the show's title for god's sake)...but the GA writers have been known to do some shocking stuff, so I was willing to keep a thread of hope alive. Because I don't like Mer. She, to pull a staple out of my phrasebook, annoys the bejesus out of me. She is always whining or unhappy about something. And now, quasi-suicidal. She's got a laundry list of issues: mommy issues, daddy issues, abandonment issues, getting drunk and sleeping with the wrong men issues - are there any left out there that we can make her the poster child for? She whines and pines for Derek for two seasons, she finally gets him and a modicum of happiness, and then her Alzheimers-suffering mother has a lucid day and gives her enough grief to turn the mommy issues up to eleven. So much so that she has a little episode in the bathtub....and then when the injured dude kicks her into the water, she flails for a little bit and then gives in. But as "jump the shark" as her experiences with the other side were....just HOW happy was I to see these two faces?? I loves me some Denny and have since he began on the show. I already knew he was making some sort of appearance this season. He looked different, and it took me a little bit to realize the difference was that he looked healthy. I was so used to seeing pallid, sickly Denny...even after he got the new heart, he didn't 100% perk up before he had that damn stroke or embolism or whatever it was that took him. But bringing back Kyle Chandler, who is currently making my married heart go pitty-pat on Friday Night Lights, as Dylan the bomb squad guy? Never saw that coming. And man, do I love those folks at Grey's for that little bonus. Because the last time we saw Dylan was the first time I had ever watched Grey's. I think he was part of what sucked me in. Well, that and the fact that they made him explode. Between the DVR and abc.com, I must have watched those last two minutes of last week's episode at least 4 or 5 times, just to see Dylan give that smirk and "hey" and when she asked if she was dead, to hear Denny tell her "you bet your ass". And I loved that in the beginning of last night's episode they brought back Doc the dog. That was a nice touch, especially to this dog lover.
Beyond Meredith, I loved the Cristina stuff....loved that her answer to dealing with Mer's impending doom was to go to the dollar store and then go have some beers....loved that she came to Meredith's bedside and was comforting in very un-Cristina-like fashion.
But whoa, since when did Izzie become so pious? Last week's whole "I believe" speech was so overdone - c'mon, was it really necessary for her to tell George that his marriage to Callie is a mistake? That was neither the time nor the place. And she was no better this week, incredulous that George was mad at her for that little revelation. Well duh! How crab-assy did she get when Alex told her that her getting involved with Denny was wrong? Granted, I think Alex's motives were different, but still!
Okay, I think I'm a little too involved with this show...I need a GA chatroom, or maybe a support group. Or maybe I just miss class discussions from college!

new stuff

Had a productive Saturday...Dawn and I went to a crop in NJ, met Jen and Lisa there. We got there a few hours late, and it took me a little while to get the creative juices flowing, but once they did, I got some pages done for the first time in a long time.
